This cd is not what you expect, it’s a mish mash of session music and Chris doing his own thing, it does not resemble the Coldplay we know and love, I advise strongly not to buy it if you like Coldplay, you will, like me be very very disappointed and if I could return it I would.

Arabesque, Champion Of The World, Daddy, Church, Orphans & Everyday Life are massive standouts and some of the best songs the band has produced this decade.

Perhaps because goodness is at the very heart of Coldplay, a band who believe in the power of music to uplift and transform, who play as if they can save the world with a melody. I hope I’ll get my money back. Why, I assume something personal but probably just a gimmick. You can sum it up with this - they call it a double album.

That message rings throughout Everyday Life, from the open-armed, choir-led embrace of “Orphans”—where Guy Berryman’s bassline sets a new gold standard for buoyancy—to the spoken-word immediacy of “بنی آدم” to the twilight skywriting of closing duo “Champion of the World” and the title track. E veryday Life is a double album, 16 songs spread over 53 minutes, with the first half titled Sunrise and the second Sunset. I’m all for artist creativity and experimentation in order to avoid becoming stale. We’ll see if Coldplay’s next effort will bring me back, but I won’t be holding my breath after this experience.
